Bear Creek is a space where all individuals, regardless of disability, have the opportunity to express their individuality and develop skills of independence through outdoor camp activities. Barriers are eliminated to allow an enriching experience that everyone can participate in.

Accessibility

Bear Creek organizes and facilitates a learning environment that goes beyond a traditional classroom and encourages multi-sensory and multi-modality participation. Schools, nonprofits, and other groups are provided a hands-on experience where education and play are combined for emotional, behavioral, and intellectual development.

Education

Bear Creek creates an atmosphere where individuals value one another’s differences and engage in experiences where they are understanding and accepting of others.

Inclusion

Bear Creek Collaborative operates at Overton Farm and the former TVA Bear Creek Education Center in Hodges, Alabama. This location is barrier-free on approximately 400 acres of land and surrounded by Bear Creek water access. It is also home to one of the last remaining pioneer villages in the state of Alabama. For Bear Creek Collaborative, this outdoor setting creates a natural learning environment making it more realistic to help build on emerging skills. Since the 1970s, children, community members, and individuals from across the country have created their own personal Bear Creek story. We’re here to continue that tradition.

There’s a history here.
